Molecular Brews: Liquid Nitrogen Stout Ice Cream
Oh Yeah, we are talking cryogenics, phase change and MINUS 320 degrees farenheit to make some of the creamiest ice cream you will ever eat right before your eyes.  The rapid freeze causes the fat and water molecules to stay very small giving the ice cream its heavnely creamy consistency.

Hip Hops: Hops, Beer and Science
This event is all about Hops.  Geek out with Hop mixology where you can taste individually hopped beers and then create your own hop combination.  Taste the difference between sour and bitter. Learn about the impact of Hops on foam and wee beasties and smell the aromas of Noble, American and European Hops. What is an IBU anyway and can you really taste 100 IBUs? Talk to a brewery expert about the hops they use and why and meet a local Hop Farmer.  Try a beer infused with funky flavors like anise or juniper berries. The event format is like speed dating where you will move from table to table and engage in activities and conversations with scientists, brew experts and other patrons.

Sip and Sleuth: Detecting Beer Off Flavors
Any notes of butter or bananas? Wet basement or pennies? Does the beer taste leathery or stale, oily or rancid? Buttery notes are called diacetyl, banana is isoamyl acetate, wet basement is musty and pennies is metallic.  There are 32 different off flavors.  These off flavors may be common in beer but when present imply something went wrong in the brewing or stoarge of the beer.  This event will make you a more sophisticated beer drinker while having fun.  Trained beer tasters will lead you and your friends through 24 different flavors.  You will also taste 5 different Raleigh Brewing Beers and together, with your brewing expert, describe the flavors and aromas in each.  The event format is seated so everyone should arrive by the event start time – 6:30 pm.

Tour Be Brew
Tour de Brew events are a way for the beer and cycling communities to come together to help solve a serious world crisis—the lack of clean water. Millions of people around the world spend hours each day walking to fetch unsanitary water. We can end that walk! What better way to solve a world crisis than spending a day with friends exploring new breweries, joining one of the bike rides, or just hanging out at the Tour de Brew party?

1st Annual Durham Blues and Brews Festival
This isn’t a Beer Fest with music, or a Blues Fest with Beer, it’s a new type of an event designed to be a unique experience, by offering Great Blues music and only North Carolina Craft Beers. The Brewers will be on site to tell you about their Breweries and Beers while you sample from their selection. Not the “shots” you get at Beer Fests, but an 8 oz. pour for you to enjoy while learning about their beers, and listening to great blues bands. This eliminates spending excessive time standing in lines and allows you time to enjoy the music, beer, and your friends.
