2016 NC March Beer Madness

Posted by: Mike  /   Category: Just for Fun / March Beer Madness   /   32 Comments

After a long hiatus from writing (Maybe I need to cut back on the drinking and do more writing? Well, we all know that isn’t going to happen…), I decided to make my triumphant return for my favorite post (and time of the year). With the popularity we got last year doing NC Breweries, I’ve decided that’s what we’ll do again. Much like last year, there are going to be quite a few omissions that don’t make the field. With over 130 breweries, it’s just not possible to include them all, so to narrow the field I’m only going to include breweries that I’ve been to, which is well over 64 as well, so I’m going to do local Raleigh places and some of my favorites from other parts of the state as well. I’m sure there will be some I like and have forgotten about so here’s my apology up front. CLICK HERE to see last year’s winner.

With all that said… let’s get it started! Feel free to print your own bracket (DOWNLOAD A BLANK BRACKET HERE), fill in your favorites, and see if you can pick who will win “Best NC Brewery.” Make sure to keep voting throughout the competition to keep your favorites advancing (Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for reminders). Although there will ultimately be only one winner… we are all the winners here in NC, because we get to enjoy what these amazing places are brewing on a regular basis.

Stop complaining. Looks like the editor just had a basic requirement that the brewery actually brew decent beer before they could be in the bracket.

I’d love to see Burial or Haw River win this, but NoDa and Wicked Weed are two seriously strong 1-seeds.

I’m voting for my friends at Double Barley Brewing!

I commend them for their quality products, wonderful, friendly staff & owners, and beautiful brewery!

I was very impressed when I visited especially with our mutual friends the band Crobot’s own SupernaturAle that they helped Crobot Create!

They are also wonderful people whom I had the pleasure to meet & spend time with when I traveled from Pottsville PA, Crobot’s hometown, to attend the beer release party for SupernaturAle on 10/10/15.

So best wishes to them, I do hope they will win, they certainly deserve it! I know I will highly recommend them to everyone I meet!

    Thank you!

How serious can this be, with Triple C, Fonta Flora, or Natty Green’s being left out of the bracket??
Wicked Weed is fantastic, but I believe Fonta Flora beats them in Saisons.

FYI Fonta Flora was included. They are in the “Hops” region and made it to the Regional Semifinals….

Double Barley’s Gourd Rocker is the best North Carolina beer I’ve tasted. Fortnight’s Coffee Amber is very good, too.

Double Barley Stouts are amazing! Can’t be beat for taste and combinations. Tough competition in Wicked Weed. Take it down Double Barley!!!

An interesting dialogue is worth comment. I feel that you must write more on this topic, it won’t be a taboo subject but typically people are not sufficient to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers kfkeaedbdgadccgb
